What products do you supply?

We are a full timber merchant who holds a good stock of structural and planed timber, sheet materials (MDF, ply, chipboard), hardwoods, treated timber, cladding, glulam beams, and Metalwork (hangers and fixings).x
We also supply bespoke engineered products such as Roof Trusses, Metalweb Joists and provide Timber Frame Packages.

Do you cut wood to size?

Yes! We have a Saw Mill on site, and we are happy to cut and plane timber to size, as well as cut sheet materials as required. Give us a call or come and see our friendly team, who will be happy to help!

How does one choose the right product?

We are here to help! Share your drawings or project specs (span, pitch, loading). Our Norwich team will recommend the best timber grade or engineered solution to meet UK building standards. We have a good stock of samples too. Feel free to come and visit us, and we can talk through your options.

How does one get a quote?

Do you deliver?

YES! Free delivery is available for orders over £150 across East Anglia. We are also very happy to price larger jobs further afield. Please give us a call to inquire about availability, and we will be happy to provide a quotation.

Are trade and the general public welcome?

Yes, we are here to help everyone from builders to DIY-ers, from large commercial sites to small timber projects. No job is too big or small, and we are here with over 40 years of experience to guide you. Trade credit is available (subject to application and approval).

Can one visit the Read Brothers Yard?

Yes! We'd love to see you. We have an extensive range of off-the-shelf products, including skirting, architrave, shiplap and cladding. We're always a friendly bunch, so pop in and see us, and we can help guide you with what's needed for your project. 
We are at the end of the Sweet Briar Road industrial estate, NR3 2BS.

Do you carry out site visits for Truss and Joist designs?

YES! The best way to get a quotation for your engineered products is to send us a drawing and/or measurements of your project. From this, we can provide a budget quotation. As and when you place the order, if necessary, one of our experienced designers will come to the site to complete a survey where we assess the existing property for elements which tie in with the new products being supplied and ensure they will fit as required.

Do you offer Supply & Fit?

Currently, we offer Supply Only; however, we do have extensive contacts in the industry, so we would be very happy to recommend someone local to you.

Payment

Card payment and bank transfer are our preferred methods of payment – currently, we do not accept Amex payments. Trade credit is available (subject to application and approval).

While many of our stock items are returnable, bespoke and engineered products are non-refundable once production commences. Please see our full terms and conditions, available on our website.

Trusses and Metal web joists are engineered to EuroCode5, which is the recognised European standard of timber structures. We hold PEFC chain-of-custody, doing our bit for sustainability. We comply with UKCA Marking, CE Marking and BM Trada Q-Mark certification. All of the above go towards ensuring a great quality product with quality assurance from reputable industry bodies. We are also proud members of the Trussed Rafter Association.
