Read Brothers have invested in modern machinery to be able to produce more efficiently and quickly to a high standard.
The yard has a saw mill which houses 2 Stenner Band Re-saws, a 6 cutter moulder, vertical panel saw, cross-cut saw and thicknesser all serviced by a recently installed environmentally friendly extraction system.
The fabrication plant has 2 electromagnetic stations supporting the fully computerised, state of the art truss saw. |

Roof Trusses are now being manufactured in a variety of configurations depending on end use. Recent contracts have included a Supermarket Roof and 15 metre Attic Trusses for the HILLTOP OUTDOOR CENTRE in Sheringham.

EasiJoist System
We have partnered with Wolf Systems Ltd. in the manufacture of trussed rafters for many years and so it is a natural and simple progression for us now to look to the future of engineered floors and, as market leaders in timber engineering, we have decided to use their system of open metal floor beam design. The specialist floor beam press we have in operation is capable of producing 300 metres per day, which would equate to about 1000 houses per year.
The ‘easi-joist’ beams are formed from a timber top and bottom rail with galvanised metal pressed V webs between. The large open web design provides easy access for all electrical and mechanical services. The ‘easi-joists’ eliminate problems with floor members twisting or bowing leading to the inevitable squeaky floor. Site installation times are greatly reduced as the floors are made to measure and, being a minimum of 72mm in width, they are more stable when setting out and provide a greater area for fixing. The ‘strongback’ replaces the traditional herringbone strutting and provides the rigidity to the whole system giving a stability and solidity second to no other timber floor. The ‘easi-joist’ beams are lighter than solid timber, can span further, and due to the smaller timber content, are also environmentally friendly. |
